Nature's Medicine Cabinet - Secrets Of A Forgotten Age.
May. 15th, 2008 | 09:58 am
Have you ever wondered how our forefathers and their ancestors all managed to survive without modern medicines, supplements, specialized therapies and health insurance?
Has traveling along the “path of least resistance” been the direct cause of our forgetting about all of the ways that “mother nature” can provide for our health and well-being?
Certainly, it would be difficult to imagine life without the available technologies and breakthroughs of 21st century medicine, but some would argue that modern medicine has as much to do with contributing to disease as it does curing it. But, as self-serving as they may seem, physicians and practitioners are not alone in this cycle of “catch 22s”. The pharmaceutical manufacturers bombard us with commercials, articles, and studies, not only identifying a plethora of disease, but even more alarming, they help manifest elements of fear and anxiety, creating a psychological need for their highly profitable products.
So, what are the alternatives to this medical madness?
To be sure, modern medicine is such a convenient means of coping with our stressful and demanding lifestyle that we’re not about to abandon that measure of security to go about digging up roots, shaving tree bark and cultivating exotic herbs. Who has the time or the expertise?
What I hope to achieve through this article is a stimulation of curiosity within the reader. A tease, if you will, to recall long forgotten memories of a more natural side of human existence. At the same time, I want to be clear that none of this should be considered a substitute for required medical treatment, however, various alternatives can be successfully employed for many minor complaints and therapies.
Let’s take a look a few:
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) - used for thousands of years to treat a multitude of diseases and conditions. Referenced in the Bible, this natural substance contains a perfect balance of 19 vital minerals, including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, chlorine, sodium, iron, fluorine and silicon, just to name a few. Additionally, more than 90 other components can even help your body regulate blood pressure, while supporting your immune system. Studies have shown that the nutrients, enzymes, and organic acids found in ACV act as a weight loss component, by safely suppressing the appetite while increasing the body's metabolic rate. External benefits include:
* A natural germ fighter, as well as a powerful cleansing agent.
* Maintenance of healthy skin.
* Soothes sunburn.
* Helps prevent dandruff.
* Used as a topical solution, research shows it can even prevent baldness.
Essential Oils – a natural-medicine alternative to many common ailments with benefits ranging from topical antiseptics, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, digestive system tonics, and anti-depressants. Here’s a brief look at just a few:
Lavender – (medicine chest in a bottle) - anti-inflammatory; very effective on burns; speeds wound healing; reduces scarring; reduces stress.
Peppermint - An excellent digestive tonic, calming motion sickness and reducing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. And, did you know it’s considered by some to be a more effective insect repellent than citronella, when used on the body (rather than in the surrounding air).
Chamomile - The great tension reliever. Useful for a wide variety of nervous conditions, and is often indicated for cases of stress in children, including teething and general crankiness.
Eucalyptus - most often used for respiratory conditions, clearing congestion with coughs and colds. Diffusing Eucalyptus oil can kill most staphylococcus bacteria, present in many bronchial infections. And, did I mention, an effective insect repellent?
Herbs
Medicinal plants have a long history in treating disease. In fact, the written history of herbal medicine goes back over 2,000 years. Many so-called “weeds” were considered treasures, worth their weight in gold, to ancient cultures. Dandelion, Comfrey, Digitalis (Foxglove), the Poppy, Milk Thistle, Stinging Nettle, as well as many others, have well-established medicinal qualities that have few, if any rivals in the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, many are the basic ingredient of some of the most important pharmaceutical drugs.
One notable example is the Dandelion. Research is currently being conducted by scientists at the Royal Botanical Gardens, in London, who consider the plant a potential source for a life-saving drug to be used in warding off cancer, which presently kills tens of thousands of people every year.
Balance is the best alternative.
While the advanced cultures of the world’s industrialized nations enjoy the absolute best that modern medical technology has to offer, many of the “third world” societies and certainly the world’s remaining primitive cultures, utilize the ancient methods and natural medicines developed by their ancestors. But, rather than being mutually exclusive, a more practical approach would be to bring both ends of the spectrum together, blending both the old and the new into what is more commonly referred to as “Complementary Medicine”, where consideration is given to the mind, body and spirit regarding the health and well-being of the individual.

Fight Cancer Naturally
May. 15th, 2008 | 09:35 am
A sobering fact, cancer is the second leading cause of death in this country. It strikes men, women, and children. Cancer is caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to environmental toxins, smoking, an unhealthy lifestyle, and genetic predisposition.
However, the most staggering statistic is that improper diet accounts for almost 70% of cancers and is one of the main causes of death among human beings. Diet and cancer experts are beginning to identify more and more nutrients that may help reduce cancer risks and contribute to a longer, healthier lifestyle.
Healthy weight and good nutrition are important elements in the fight against cancer. Making some minor changes in your diet and lifestyle can greatly reduce the probability of getting cancer.
Suggested Dietary Guidelines to Lower Cancer Risk:
*Eat a primarily plant-based diet rich in a variety of vegetables and fruits, beans and peas, and minimally processed starchy foods.
*Eat five or more portions a day of a variety of vegetables and fruits, all year round.
*Eat at least three portions a day of a variety of cereals, whole grains, beans and peas, and root vegetables. Minimally processed foods are preferable.
*Limit consumption of refined sugar.
*Alcohol consumption is not recommended. If consumed, limit alcoholic drinks to less than two drinks a day for men and one for women.
*If eaten at all, limit intake of red meat to less than 3 ounces daily. It is preferable to choose fish and poultry in place of red meat.
*Limit consumption of fatty foods, particularly those of animal origin. Choose modest amounts of appropriate vegetable oils.
*Limit consumption of salted foods and use of cooking and table salt. Use herbs and spices to season foods.
*Do not smoke or use tobacco in any form.
Exercise and Fitness:
*Maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight, lose weight. Obesity is now a leading cause of some cancers.
*Be physically active. If occupational activity is low or moderate, take a brisk walk or similar aerobic exercise daily. Swimming, elliptical training, and jogging are also excellent ways to move your body. Exercise vigorously for a total of at least two hours a week.
The consumption of a predominantly plant-based diet, when matched with regular physical exercise and the avoidance of tobacco, can decrease cancer risk by as much as 70%. A truly healthy body is far less vulnerable to cancer and more able to fight off its ravages. The guidelines listed above can help you in your fight against cancer.

The Power of Natural Alternative Medicine
May. 8th, 2008 | 09:35 am
By Brenda Templin
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human body, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease."...Thomas Edison, 1902
We have many different options for healthcare today, but the focus of this article will be on biologically based treatments and prevention. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) defines the scope of biologically based practices to include, but is not limited to, botanicals, animal-derived extracts, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, prebiotics and probiotics, whole diets, and functional foods.
But first, let’s take a look at the different philosophies of healthcare practiced today. Allopathic, alternative, complementary, integrative…what does it all mean? Each includes many different kinds of therapies, and although alternative, complementary and integrative are sometimes used interchangeably, the general focus of each is different.
• Allopathic medicine focuses on disease and the treatment of the physical body with drugs and surgery. These are conventional physicians with the title of M.D. that are universally recognized as having a medical degree.
• Alternative medicine includes those therapies not generally recommended by allopathic physicians. It includes Energy Medicine, Ethnomedicine, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Homeopathic Medicine, Botanical or Herbal Medicine, Biomolecular Medicine, Manual Medicine, Spiritual Medicine.
• Complementary medicine includes therapies used by both alternative and allopathic physicians. It includes Exercise Medicine, Environmental Medicine, Social Medicine, and Nutritional Medicine.
• Integrative medicine is the attempt to integrate the many philosophies of medicine, allopathic, complementary, and alternative, to treat the whole person, physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.1
Many people are hesitant about trusting their healthcare to anyone other than an allopathic physician. But did you know that Naturopathic Medical Doctors are the only physicians who receive complete training in conventional medicine as well as natural medicine? Licensed naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D. /N.D.) attend a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical school where they are educated in all of the same basic sciences as a conventional M.D. In addition to this training, they are extensively educated in the philosophy and implementation of safe and effective natural therapeutics with a strong emphasis on disease prevention. Unfortunately, some states do not yet offer licensing for Naturopathic Doctors.
Allopathic physicians and pharmaceutical drugs are, and always will be, necessary for acute, emergency medical care and trauma, as well as for conditions that cannot be controlled with lifestyle changes, good nutrition and supplements. But many conditions can be prevented and controlled with lifestyle changes and biologically based medicine. Just as many pharmaceutical drugs can interact with other drugs, some biologically based supplements may interact with drugs and cause side effects, so a healthcare provider should always be consulted before adding supplements to the diet. In some cases, alternative therapy may actually have beneficial synergistic effects in conjunction with existing medical therapy, even when not feasible as a replacement.
Biologically based medicine is not new. It was practiced for thousands of years before pharmaceutical companies began manufacturing the first synthetic drugs. In addition, many of the pharmaceutical preparations used around the world are based on plants. As late as the 1930's, the formulation of about 80% of synthetic pharmaceutical drugs began with a natural compound. Today, about 25% of prescription drugs contain active ingredients derived from plants.
The United States has the most advanced medical system in the world, yet the population is increasingly turning to natural healing methods. However, the U.S. still lags behind world stats. A survey of 31,000 U.S. adults conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics in 2004 showed that 35 percent use some form of complementary and alternative medicine. Today, the World Health Organization estimates that herbal medicine is still the primary source of health care for approximately 80 percent of the world’s population.
Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. These diseases and other chronic diseases such as obesity, depression, metabolic and digestive disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and fibroids, account for 7 of every 10 deaths and affect the quality of life of 90 million Americans. Chronic diseases are among the most prevalent and most costly, yet they are the most preventable.
Conventional physicians treat chronic diseases with expensive pharmaceuticals that may temporarily relieve the painful or uncomfortable symptoms, but the drugs do nothing to resolve the underlying cause, and may actually cause other side effects and serious problems. Because nutrition affects our immune system, organ function, hormonal balance and cellular metabolism, many of these chronic conditions and diseases can be traced to a nutrition deficiency. When the deficiency is not corrected, symptoms begin to appear and eventually lead to disease and premature aging.
Many pharmaceuticals can effectively be replaced with multivitamin supplements, botanicals, amino acids, prebiotics and probiotics, fresh foods and functional foods for both prevention and treatment. Because herbs work synergistically, combinations of herbs with similar properties enhance the properties of each. This is why choosing a product containing a combination of different herbs is usually more effective than choosing individual selections. An example of this is the combination of valerian, passion flower and hops to promote relaxation and restful sleep. All three have a relaxing effect on the body. Valerian relaxes muscle tension, while hops relaxes the nervous system, and passiflora acts as a sedative. Popular alternative medicine company Melaleuca even offers a product called RestEZ, a supplement that contains all three natural sleep enhancers: valerian, passion flower and hops.
In part two of The Power of Natural Alternative Medicine we will discuss the regulation of nutritional supplements and little known history of natural medicine. This publication is courtesy of RMBarry Publications who publish various books about Melaleuca Products.

The Five Most Important Anti-aging Behaviors
May. 7th, 2008 | 07:47 am
NaturalCuresSource.com
A twenty-five year-long study of more than 2,357 men has found five significant behaviors that, barring genetic or environmental factors out of our control, play major roles in life expectancy to ninety years and beyond. These five key behaviors also contribute to vastly improved late-life function, which is the main goal of any anti-aging program.
Published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, the study discovered how non-genetic determinants of exceptional longevity are accessible and achievable by ordinary people who are serious enough about anti-aging to take matters into their own hands.
The 2,357 men, all healthy at the beginning of the study in 1981, had a mean age of 72. Throughout the study, mortality, incidences of major diseases, biological and lifestyle factors and comorbid conditions were monitored. ('Comorbid' is a term applied to a disease or disorder that occurs at the same time as another disease condition. For example, there are a number of health problems that are comorbid with obesity.)
By 2006 when the study ended, 970 of the men -- 41% -- had survived to at least 90, some even longer. After all the variables were factored in, five common adverse factors were found to be at the top of the lists as the major contributors to shortened lives and reduced quality of life in later years -- or, in the absence of these factors, the leading factors that prolonged active lives:
1. Smoking
2. Diabetes
3. Obesity
4. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
5. Sedentary life style (lack of exercise)
Smoking was strongly associated with increased risk of mortality before age 90, and seriously reduced quality of life as the years marched on. On the other hand, regular exercise was associated with a nearly 30% lower mortality risk than those who didn’t exercise. The probability of a 90-year life span for someone aged 70 in the absence of all five risky behaviors -- smoking, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and sedentary lifestyle -- was 54%. Not bad odds, when you consider that all five of these are pretty much under our control. The chances for a longer, healthier life to age 90 and beyond for a 70 year-old dropped to between 22% and 36% when only two adverse factors were present, and was negligible with all five present.
Compared with nonsurvivors, the study found, men with exceptional longevity had a healthier all-round lifestyle, had a lower incidence of chronic diseases, and were 3 to 5 years older at the onset of any disease.
At least as important, they enjoyed better late-life physical functioning and mental well-being. More than 68% rated their late-life health as excellent or very good, and less than 8% reported fair or poor health. Regular exercise was associated with significantly better late-life physical functioning than smokers and those who were overweight. And get this -- smoking was also associated with a significant reduction in mental function.
Healthy behaviors -- decisions that we can make any time in our lives -- really do make a difference according to this study. And it’s never too late, because even if we don’t clean up our acts until we’re getting on in years, the body’s ability to heal and strengthen is remarkable. Quitting smoking might be the toughest to control, but there are a plenty of programs, patches, pills, and even inexpensive stop-smoking supplements that can help.
So the jury is in, and there’s no more room for debate. Not smoking, managing our weight and blood pressure, and taking regular exercise -- which plays a big part in controlling weight, blood pressure and diabetes -- are all associated not only with a longer life span, but also with better health and more strength and agility during old age. Even better, these are things that anyone can do if he wants to, and at zero financial cost -- in fact, these five actions will save an incalculable amount of money. What more could someone seeking an anti-aging regimen ask for?

Is Your Home Office Eco-Friendly?
May. 2nd, 2008 | 11:49 am
![]() |
NaturalCuresSource.com
By Matt BarkerMost of us are pretty diligent about recycling every week. For some of us, the kitchen scraps go to the composter, and glass, plastic and cans are all separated. That's great for the kitchen, but what about the rest of the house? What most don't realize is the home office offers a huge opportunity for eco-friendly living, but largely goes ignored.
Many don't think twice of using high quality non-recycled paper, or tossing ink cartridges and old electronics in the garbage. Leaving a computer on overnight seems innocent enough until you multiply that energy use by millions of households.
The three main home office offenders are energy waste, paper consumption and hazardous waste. Here are some tips to make your home office a little more eco-friendly.
Put your electronics to bed at night. Connect your computer, speakers, fax, printer, etc. to a power bar and turn them all off with the flick of a switch at the end of the day. It's a common misconception that you should leave a computer on all night. There is a peak in the power when you turn it on, but nothing compared to what it uses over a 24 hour period.
Opt for a laptop. Not only do these have the benefit of being portable, laptops consume one-eighth the power of a desktop computer. Imagine if everyone in a household all had their own computers, they still wouldn't use the energy of one bulky desktop.
Go for the flat screen. An LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) or flat screen monitor uses less than half the energy of the traditional CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors. Not to mention that they are easier to read, lighter and cause less eye strain.
Reuse & recycle. I had a friend who used to save any of her junk mail that was still in good condition and when doing simple printing jobs, she would use the blank side of those pages. It was such a simple concept that made so much sense, and worked great for those quick map or recipe print outs.
Save and reuse paper clips, elastics and push pins, and use rechargeable batteries and refillable toner cartridges.
For your garbage paper, keep a recycling bin next to your desk for handy use. Keep another bin nearby for expired rechargeable batteries, old inkjet and toner cartridges, or electronics. Once you have a collection built up, take them back to any Staples Business Depot for recycling.
Dead batteries should be saved and dropped off at your local waste depot for safe disposal. That corrosive acid they contain will seep out into the environment if left in a landfill site.
When buying paper, read the labels. What most people don't realize is that much of the paper we use every day comes from old-growth forests. When you read the labels on the packages, look for: 100% recycled ( your 1st choice); or minimum FFC certification, which means the paper was made from trees grown in a sustainably managed forest.
Switch to fluorescent bulbs. A fluorescent bulb uses 2/3 less energy than a common incandescent bulb. When you add up all the bulbs in the house, that energy savings translates into saved dollars!

Serious Health Concerns for Women
Apr. 30th, 2008 | 07:28 am
By Megan Hazel
These days, it seems women have more health concerns than ever. Perhaps they are greater in number than ever before or perhaps we are just more aware of women's issues as women are more comfortable having them brought to the forefront.
One issue that continually does get the attention it deserves is breast cancer. The breast cancer statistics are alarming, and almost everyone you know has a sister or mother who has suffered from this deadly disease. If caught early enough, it does not have to be deadly. In fact, there are things you can do so that you don't get it at all. Every woman (young and old) should be checking their breasts monthly to detect for any strange lumps or any unusual signs. This can be done in the shower, with one arm raised and the other performing the checking task. Any doctor can show you the specifics on how to do this. If you do sense something suspicious, make an appointment with your doctor right away to have it looked at. The other thing you can do is be a conscious consumer; every day the FDA is coming out with new information as to what may be potential carcinogens (cancer-causing agents), from food additives to plastics to environmental hazards. Becoming aware and taking the time to be educated can make all the difference in the world.
Another major health concern for women is heart disease. This continues to be the number one killer of women, actually, and it doesn't just happen to those you would suspect. When people think of heart disease, most people think of the severely obese. However, women can suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, and clogged arteries from poor food choices, lack of exercise, and stress. Believe it or not, if you eat fast food on a regular basis and skip the gym in favor of drinks after a very stressful work day that ends at 7:00 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m., you may be in a higher risk category than your friend who remains calm, eats a lot of healthy food choices, and practices yoga a couple times a week. If you know you are in the first group, the best thing you can do for yourself is to start making small changes. If you can't get away from a stressful job or career, make sure to step away each hour and do deep breathing exercises, and stretch your body while at work. Go to the ladies room to do it if necessary! Try to make smarter food choices, even if it means just eliminating one of your ‘junk food meals' a week. If you're not big on exercise, start with a simple walk a couple times a week and go from there. The sooner you make these changes, the healthier you will be and the less at risk for heart disease.
A third issue for women and one that has been on the rise for quite some time is obesity. The "average" American woman has increased in size to a size 12 or even a size 14, with many women reaching far beyond that size. This can be unhealthy depending on your body fat percentage. While women can take some of the same steps as with heart disease discussed above, people who suffer from obesity may need to take more drastic measures in order to get their weight down. If you are obese, it is definitely time to get your diet in check so that you don't later develop heart disease, or adult diabetes, or a host of other problems from being overweight. Eating a lot of processed, artificially sweetened, or sugar and fat-laden foods is likely a habit, and one that needs to be nipped in the bud. Hand in hand with poor eating habits is exercise habits, and if you don't have any it's time to get some! It will be difficult at first, and you are likely to be winded and tired after a very short time of exertion. However, if you keep pushing through the challenging times you will soon see and feel the difference. You will notice you have more energy, as your workout time may go from ten minutes on the treadmill to fifteen to twenty. As you benefit from this greater energy, it will not only help power you through your workout sessions, but it will put a brighter spin on the rest of your life. You will find you have more energy throughout the day, and chances are you will continue to burn calories because of this. You will probably find an easier time making healthy food choices if you incorporate exercise into your fight against obesity as well.
Women's issues can be the same as men's issues or they can be different. The good news is, women's health concerns get discussed more than they used to, and this gives us greater power in awareness.

Natural Remedies for Sinus Headaches
Apr. 29th, 2008 | 08:15 am
By Rudy Silva
Changes in weather from cold to hot and then back again can causes headaches. Headaches can also be activated from stress, lack of sleep, skipping meals, and unhealthy lifestyle. They can also be caused by diseases, such as hypertension, bacterial infections, meningitis, pharyngitis and sinusitis.
Sinusitis is very common, but not a severe affliction. If left untreated it can become serious because of bacterial growth in the sinus. The cause of sinusitis is the inflammation of any of the Para nasal sinuses, the frontal or ethmoidal sinuses. If you wake up with a headache, feeling congested, and have fluffy and swelling around your eye, then you have sinus headache. Usually the cause of a sinus headache is a virus or bacterial infection causing sinusitis. This type of headache can also be caused by allergens in the air.
In his book, Quick Headache Relief Without Drugs, 1977, Howard D. Kurland, M.D. tells of a lady that ignored medical treatment and used only natural remedies for her sinus problems.
"I met an American woman living in Hong Kong who had been given acupuncture treatments for sinus headaches. The treatments almost completely alleviated the pain, and she was well satisfied with them - until an alert physician discovered that the disease, in this case bacteria sinusitis, had progressed to a very dangerous point. The sinusitis had eroded part of the sinus bone, and the infection was rapidly making its way to her brain"
So regardless of what treatments you use for a sinus headache make sure you also see a doctor about your sinusitis.
Here a few natural remedies for sinus headaches that you can use.
1. Do a steam inhalation with distilled or reverse osmosis water twice a day. Put a cloth over your head, move close to the steamer, and inhale steam through your nose. This brings warm, moist air into the mucous membrane and respiratory tract. Do this inhalation for 2 minutes or more and repeat every half hour until you feel better. This process helps to:
" Relieves the inflammation and congestion of the mucus membrane of the upper respiratory tract.
" Relieves irritation by the moistening the air.
" Loosens the secretions and stimulates expectoration.
" Relieves the spasmodic breathing
" Relaxes the muscles and thus relieves coughing.
" Relieves excessive dryness of the mucous membrane.
2. A Hot foot bath remedy for a sinus headache due to congestion. Place your feet, ankles and legs into the hot bath. Leave your feet in the hot water for 10 - 15 minutes
" Relieves head, chest and pelvic congestion by drawing the blood from those areas to the legs and feet
" Relieves pain and spasms of the feet and legs.
" Induces sweating in case of fever-lowers body temperature.
" Relieves headaches
" Relaxes body the whole day.
" Increase circulation locally
" Relieves pain.
3. Hot compress for a sinus headache. Apply a hot compress to the forehead, nose or sinus area for 10 minutes. You may have to reheat the compress. This will relieve your sinus congestion and headache pain.
4. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water or fruit juices during the day to help mucus flow out of the sinus area. Natural fresh juices work better than bottled juices, but use what is available.
There you have it, 4 different natural remedies for sinus headaches that you can use to relieve your sinus headaches and at the same time get relief from your sinusitis. Use them all and see which works the best for you.

The Benefits of Green Tea to Men’s Health
Apr. 28th, 2008 | 08:15 am
By Rebecca Hausen
Green Tea is an ingredient that increasingly pops up when discussing men’s health concerns. Although it’s been utilized for hundreds of years for medicinal purposes, it seems like new benefits are being revealed all the time. According to numerous scientific studies, the effects of green tea are currently being considered for treatment of a number of health conditions, from several forms of cancer to mental alertness to weight loss to cholesterol maintenance.
To help you understand the importance of this ingredient’s role in both skincare and nutritional capacities, we’ve broken down the many benefits of this ingredient:
Powerful Antioxidant: Green Tea contains high levels of phenolic acids and catechin—antioxidants which play a major role in protecting the body against free radical damage. Free radicals can cause cellular oxidation and damage, which contribute to health problems associated with aging.
Goodbye Jitters: Because Green Tea contains tannin, it produces an energized feeling and increased alertness for extended periods of time. However, unlike caffeine levels in coffee, tannin provides a gentle increase in energy, without the jitteriness or rapid decline in energy associated with this type of caffeinated reaction.
Fat-Burner: Recent studies are being conducted on the increased health benefits of Green Tea for men looking to lose weight. Consuming Green Tea increases the metabolic rate, causing greater fat oxidation and better weight management. In fact, several studies reveal that the potential weight-loss properties of Green Tea go well beyond its ability to simply accelerate metabolism.
Clean & Complete: Green Tea has been utilized throughout the world as a cleansing agent. For more than 5,000 years, Asian cultures have used Green Tea for its healing and cleansing benefits, and Green Tea continues to be a major ingredient in many treatments.
The Full Treatment: Green Tea is also being studied for its potential role in the fight against cancers, heart, joint and liver diseases.

Can Better Nutrition Cure Prostate Cancer?
Apr. 28th, 2008 | 08:04 am
By Abigail Franks
We know that a body that is well fortified and has been nourished with good nutrition and nutrients is much better prepared to fight off illness in diseases that may come about. It's estimated that per capita, men in the United States are five times more likely to die from prostate cancer than men in Japan.
Epidemiolical research which is the study of disease patterns in diverse groups of people, suggests that the difference in diet plays a role in the increased rate of prostate cancer in the US. This research is suggested that both the difference in diet and lifestyle may be contributing factors to the increased cancer rate
Other research has estimated that as many as one third of all cancer deaths in the United States can easily be attributed to both our diet and lifestyle choices. Our fast food lifestyle simply doesn't provide the adequate nutrition necessary to keep our bodies and immune systems operating at their best. But again, this is a guess based on a study of empirical data only. You cannot deny that there are definite patterns that tie our dietary nutrition to some illnesses
We know that some nutritional supplements such as saw Palmetto can help with prostatis, a swelling or hardening of the prostate gland. Daily use of saw Palmetto can relieve many of the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. This by itself may suggest that by providing additional nutritional supplements, our bodies are better able to regulate and correct developing problems.
The American Institute for Cancer Research has stated that as much as one third of all cancer related disease is preventable through a combination of nutrition changes, maintaining an active lifestyle and healthy weight control.
The study by the Cancer Research Institute was based on results of a review of over 4,500 scientific studies on cancer and dietary nutrition. It was this empirical evidence that form the basis of their claim that about one third of all cancer illness is preventable
A healthy goal to keep all cancer but especially that of the prostate at bay, should probably include
- Limiting the percentage of the dietary fat consumption to about 15-20% of total daily calories.
- Mom was right, you should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables every day.
- Keep Dietary Fiber preferably around 25-35 g every single day.
- Balance your intake of calories to your energy output. This means the key is to exercise more folks. :o)
- Add Dietary Vitamins, nutrients herbs and supplements to make certain your body has everything it needs to get and stay healthy
Conclusively, even though there is no genuine proof that this type of nutritional regimen will keep you healthy, the fact is that it definitely couldn't hurt. You may find more energy through an active and healthy lifestyle by eating right and giving your body the nutrition it needs to stay healthy.

Herbal Treatments for the Flu
Apr. 24th, 2008 | 10:11 am
NaturalCuresSource.com
By sdmeyers
There are a variety of illnesses a person can come down with throughout the year. One of the most miserable, and unfortunately most common is the flu. While the flu may keep you in bed for a few days, that does not mean you are helpless when it comes to alleviating the symptoms.
There are a few different treatments available. Some prefer to go to their doctor and get tested to make sure they have the flu, and then take prescription medications. Others seem to prefer more holistic or self-healing methods, and herbal treatments. There are a number of herbal remedies that can help with almost all aspects of the flu.
Echinacea is a very popular herbal treatment. This herbal remedy is famous for stimulating the immune system. As one may expect, anything that boosts the immune system's ability to react and respond faster is bound to lead to a faster, less eventful recovery.
For many people, Echinacea also reduces the severity of certain flu-related symptoms. Any reduction in symptoms like congestion, fever, and muscle pain will make getting well much easier. Echinacea comes in different varieties such as liquid, powder, and as a dried root. This type of herb is best used only for short-term duration.
Ginger is another type of herb which may prove useful in treating flu symptoms. This herb has been shown to reduce fever and pain. It also helps many individuals to relax. Getting plenty of rest is vital to a speedy recovery from the flu.
The antiviral properties of ginger make it very useful for getting rid of the flu. Ginger also has a delightful, spicy clean taste and scent. No matter how sick you are feeling, the aroma of ginger works its way in your system to help you feel better.
Elderberry extract is another type of herbal treatment which individuals have used to combat flu symptoms. This herb has been shown to reduce the severity of several flu symptoms quickly and efficiently. Research done during the 1999 - 2000 flu season in Norway revealed patients recovering, on average, four days faster than people that did not take elderberry extract.
According to some studies, Elderberry works its charm by weakening the virus's ability to pierce cell membranes. This herb has been known to work well against influenza strains A and B, as well as several other virii.
No anti-viral arsenal could possibly be complete without Garlic. This pungent bulb has been known for centuries to cure everything from warts to witchcraft. Not surprisingly, when microbes were discovered, the role of Garlic in combating viruses and bacteria received some attention.
In modern times, Garlic is still making headlines. One of the strongest antimicrobial chemicals found in garlic is called Allicin. As bacteria become resistant to our most powerful antibiotics, this natural chemical is proving to vanquish even the most stubborn mutants. Furthermore, raw garlic can prevent all sorts of harmful bacteria from colonizing the digestive tract. Garlic is considered one of the safest herbs, and can be found in almost all kitchens, individuals taking medications or about to undergo surgery should check with their doctors before taking.
While chewing on a fresh clove of garlic is likely to keep just about anything away, the liquid gel form works just as well on many ailments. Some have stated that fresh garlic may be the better variety to take in order to combat the flu. Taking this natural antibiotic is almost certain to yield results for the person suffering with a bout of the flu.
Some people may find that they obtain the best results when combining certain herbs. Teas which contain various herbs can be quite helpful in getting rid of the flu. Peppermint and rosemary combined together in a single tea may have forceful effect on flu symptoms. Like ginger, their aromatic flavor and strong aroma have a way of knocking through congestion and opening up the air passages.
In some cases, herbal treatments have centuries of tradition to attest to their efficacy. Modern scientists are also finding the validation for these traditions in the form of reproducible and predictable results in their laboratories. For someone suffering from the flu, herbal supplements may provide fewer side effects, and make the patient feel more comfortable. These items may provide a natural way to fight the influenza virus, while making the symptoms less severe overall. Nevertheless, it is always important to read about the herbs beforehand to determine which ones to take. It is also important to consult with a doctor to make sure the herbs will not interfere or react with other medications.

How to cure Asthma at home
Apr. 22nd, 2008 | 10:45 am
Asthma is a chronic disease of the respiratory system in which the airway occasionally constricts, becomes inflamed, and is lined with excessive amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers. It is a disease of the airways or branches of the lung (bronchial tubes) that carry air in and out of the lungs. Asthma causes the airways to narrow, the lining of the airways to swell and the cells that line the airways to produce more mucus.
A chronic disease in which the bronchial airways in the lungs become narrowed and swollen, making it difficult to breathe. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, and rapid breathing. Asthma is a chronic, inflammatory lung disease characterized by recurrent breathing problems. People with asthma have acute episodes or when the air passages in their lungs get narrower, and breathing becomes more difficult. Condition characterized by sudden, recurring attacks of coughing, chest constriction, labored breathing, lung congestion and wheezing.
Asthma involves overreactivity by the parasympathetic vagus nerve. Constriction of the airways (bronchial tubes) to the lungs, producing symptoms of cough and shortness of breath. It may be an allergic response.
Any drug that is constantly used , stops working. Then the medication has to be changed and or dose increased. At last, a stage comes when all drugs in maximum doses become ineffective. But Asthma stays. Treatment for asthma varies, depending on severity. You could use an inhaler for individual attacks, take a pill daily to keep attacks from happening, or even take breathing treatments regularly to keep your airways open. Check with you Doctor for the best treatment for your asthma! Asthma is always related to a sudden, unexplained difficulty of breathing with accompanying wheezing and controlled only with bronchodilators (drugs). Emotions trigger the release of some hormones that tighten airways. When the emotion is controlled, problem is corrected.
The best non-medication treatment for asthma is to learn your triggers and avoid them. Asthma is an allergy. Allergies are triggered by irritants. If its pets, don't let the pet in the house or at least not in the bedroom. If its smoke, don't smoke or go places that are smoky. If you are unable to figure out your triggers, you will need prescription medications. Natural remedies just don't work most of the time.
Some tips and suggestion for asthma patients:
Avoid smoke, especially cigarette smoke, vapours and chemical fumes.
Stay indoors during the humid season or the change of seasons especially when the pollen count is high.
Do not use fans in closed and dusty places.
Cover mattresses and pillows with plastic covers. Wash the bedding in hot water every week.
Do not use a vaporizer or humidifier unless it is thoroughly cleaned.
Do not have close contact with pets. Pet owners should bathe their pet weekly.
The cleaning of the house or the surroundings should be done by wet mopping rather than sweeping, wherever possible. This avoids the generation of allergen aerosols which could act as a triggering factor.

How to Prevent Chronic Back Pain
Apr. 17th, 2008 | 10:00 am
NaturalCuresSource.com
By peter hutchChronic back pain patients focus on the issue of control. As discussed previously, chronic back pain can lead to a diminished ability to engage in a variety of activities such as work, recreational pursuits, and interaction with family members and friends. This situation leads to a downward physical and emotional spiral that has been termed physical and mental reconditioning. As the spiral continues, the person with chronic back pain feels more and more loss of control over his or her life.
Chronic back pain tends to last a long time, and is not relieved by standard types of medical management. It may result from a previous injury long since healed, or it may have an ongoing cause, such as nerve damage or arthritis.
Symptoms of Chronic Back Pain
Persistent aching or stiffness anywhere along your spine, from the base of the neck to the hips.
Back pain is usually referred to as acute if it has been present for less than a month and chronic if it lasts for longer than a month. Young people are more likely to have brief acute episodes of back pain and chronic pain is more characteristic of older people.
Symptoms in the low back can be a result of problems in the bony lumbar spine, discs between the vertebrae, ligaments around the spine and discs, spinal cord and nerves, muscles of the low back, internal organs of the pelvis and abdomen, and the skin covering the lumbar area.
Chronic ache in the middle or lower back, especially after sitting or standing for extended periods.
Prevent Chronic Back Pain
First, analyze your posture by standing with your heels against a wall. Your calves, buttocks, shoulders, and the back of your head should touch the wall. You should be able to slip your hand behind the small of your back. Now step forward and stand normally. If your posture changes, correct it right away. If you stand for long periods at work, wear flat shoes with good arch support and get a box or step about six inches high to rest one foot on from time to time.
Swimming is the best exercise you can do for the lower back. When people get into the water, back pain usually just disappears, Dr. Bendo says. Running sometimes gets a bad rap as not being good for your back. But that's not the case when you're talking about prevention.
The best way to avoid back problems is to actively prevent them. And a lot of the things Dr. Bendo says people should do are common sense. But it also depends on what's causing your pain.
Lift Correctly: You don't have to lift something heavy in order to hurt your back. Picking up something light incorrectly is far more likely to hurt your back than picking up heavy objects correctly. Lifting things away from your body is also likely to cause damage. When you pick up anything, no matter how heavy, get it as close to your body as you can and keep your back as straight as you can and don't twist with it.
Sleep Properly: Sleep in a comfortable position. On your side in the "foetal" position is usually the least stressful on your back. Sleeping on your front puts most stress on your back and neck and can lead to trouble. Using a pillow of the right height which supports the neck is also important.

Natural Cures For Depression
Apr. 15th, 2008 | 07:10 am
That said, it's not all doom and gloom for those who experience serious bouts of 'real' depression because statistics prove that as many as eighty to 90 percent of those who suffer can be effectively treated with common drugs and therapy.
But conventional medication has gotten a bad rap over the years namely for its addictive properties and potential harmful side effects. It is for this reason that more folks than ever before are seeking alternative and natural cures for depression. One such treatment is called St. John's Wort and it is generally considered to be one of the most potent natural remedies for depression known to man. In fact it is reported as being so effective that it actually outsells many prescription medications that are commonly used for despair.
What is John's Wort? Well, simply put, it's just a flowering hedgerow plant. It's natural, inexpensive and available over the counter in many places around the planet. For many sufferers of depression, John's Wort is said to be the dream remedy, and is taken all over the world in large quantities. It's a kind of herbal Prozac if you like, but on nature's natural prescription.
Ginkgo Biloba: is another of nature's miracle plants. It's actually the oldest living tree species known. A single tree can live up to a staggering 1,000 years and grow to over 120 feet in height. Ginkgo biloa has been proved to reduce or alleviate the feelings of depression altogether, but it's not advisable to take it in conjunction with other medications. It's important that you consult your doctor before trying any alternative and natural cures for the treatment of depression.
As time goes on, so the research intensifies for all natural cures including herbal remedies for many of today's health conditions, especially treatments for anxiety and panic attacks. This interests many people who suffer from mental conditions, as they know only too well how some of the modern conventional medication can sometimes backfire and either turn the patience into a pharmaceutical drug addict or produce awful side effects.
After all, before modern medicine there were only natural cures and remedies available to fight many common ills, both physical and mental, and such was the effectiveness of these that many people in lots of countries still use them with great success even today.
Despite our pharmaceutical companies offering various conventional drugs to help us cope, even they are now recognizing the benefits of the natural treatments our ancestors used. Many a high street pharmacist can now be seen stocking up with products and information pamphlets on the proven benefits of natural plants, food, meditation, acupuncture, and yoga, to cure mental imbalances in mankind.

Can Scientists Stop the Aging Process
Apr. 13th, 2008 | 07:32 pm
NaturalCuresSource.com
By Royane RealIf you’re still alive, you’re growing older every day.
You may not notice it, but you are.
When we make that great shift out of our teenage years into our twenties, most of the changes we encounter about growing older are good.
When we are in our twenties, growing older means a lot more freedom and a lot of adventure. Physically, we are at our peak of perfection.
In our thirties, we are starting to enjoy many of the benefits of growing older as we accumulate more wisdom and in most cases, continue to have a body and a brain that’s still in great shape.
But there comes a time, perhaps in our fifth decade, or in our sixth, when growing older starts to have some negative effects we don’t really like.
We may not be as physically fit as we used to be. We start to get sags and bags. We get aches and pains. We may be showing some forgetfulness.
Our beautiful perfection of youth is gone.
Why do we age?
Over the centuries, people have often wondered how it is that our bodies grow and develop from a tiny fertilized egg, to a newborn baby, to a young child, then a teenager and, finally, a young adult. A huge number of very complex changes within our bodies must happen perfectly in order to achieve this.
Once we grow into our adult perfection, why can’t we just stay there? Why do we have to age?
And can we stop it?
Doctors and scientists used to take aging for granted. Scientists used to think that because aging was a natural process, there was no need to investigate it.
Now, as increasing numbers of baby boomers are turning fifty, anxious to hang on to some semblance of youth, more and more research is being devoted to the topic of aging.
Scientists are trying to find out how and why we age, and they are investigating possible ways to slow down the aging process, or perhaps even stop it altogether.
If new ways are found to extend physical and mental health for the aging population, the benefits to society will be enormous..
Although all of us want to live a long time, none of us wants to spend our final years in physical pain or suffering from mental decline.
Scientists have been able to identify some of the factors that influence the process of aging, and new knowledge is accumulating at a rapid rate. Dozens of theories to explain aging have been proposed, but it seems that aging is a very complex, and several processes are interlinked.
Here are some of the current theories about why we age:
Hayflick Limit Theory – Two scentists in the 1960s noticed that many human cells would divide a limited number of times, then stop. If the cells were well fed, they divided faster. Body cells may have a built-in genetic program that tells them not to reproduce anymore.
Free Radical Theory - Free radicals are molecules or atoms that have an unpaired electron. In order to be electrically balanced, these molecules or atoms will grab an electron from a nearby atom, thereby creating another free radical, eventually resulting in a cascading chain of damage to cells and organs.
Free radical formation may not account for all the symptoms of aging, but it probably does play an important part in accelerating cellular damage. Free radicals are unavoidable. They are an inevitable consequence of living in a physical body. However, there are steps we can take to slow down free radical damage, such as avoiding pollutants, and eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Telomere Theory – Telomeres are special types of chemicals that seem to have some ability to protect the chromosomes inside our cells. Every time our cells divide, the telemeres become shorter and less able to protect the chromosome. This may explain why the cells eventually become damaged and die. Scientists are currently trying to find out how to repair telomeres and stop the damage to the cells.
Glycation – When proteins in your body react with excess blood sugar, the proteins become damaged. This process is known as “glycation”. These sugar-damaged proteins may contribute to the breakdown of many other systems in the body. People who have diabetes or problems with insulin resistance are particularly vulnerable to glycation damage because of abnormalities in their blood sugar levels.
If it turns out to be true that glycation plays a major part in causing the negative effects of aging, we may be able to slow it down by making sure we avoid excess blood sugar levels.
Here are some other factors that play a part in aging:
- We experience a steep decline in hormone production in our later years
- Our body becomes less efficient at detoxifying
- The DNA in our cells becomes damaged
- A life time of exposure to stress and environmental toxins in our air, food and water overwhelms our body’s repair systems.
These are some of the explanations for why we age, but it’s not a complete picture. At the present time, we don’t yet know all the reasons for this process. And so far, there is no single magic bullet to stop it.
If scientists can learn how to slow down the process of aging, we will be able to spend many more happy years enjoying our lives while maintaining our peak of physical perfection.
And that would be something to look forward to!

Acne, the Scourge of Youth
Apr. 11th, 2008 | 09:15 am
NaturalCuresSource.com
By Ellery Coleman
Plan a date; get ready for the prom, set the date for your senior picture or just want to look nice. What always happens; you know, acne, a zit as big as a cabbage lands on your face or on your nose. You feel like an alien in a land of smooth skinned movie stars. Why don't the popular kids get acne? What are they doing that you aren't doing. Why me; why me; why does this always happen to me. I'm a good person; why am I plagued with acne. No one knows for sure why people, especially teenagers, get acne. In the fifties and sixties, teens were told that chocolate caused acne or eating too much fried food caused acne. No one really knew anything to do except use Noxzema and pray. There were only acne treatments, no cures. Having acne was seen as a rite of passage.
Today we know much more about acne and acne treatments. Some people have acne so bad that they take prescription medicine so strong that they must sign that they will not get pregnant while taking the drug. Other people take natural acne treatments because the idea of using potentially harmful treatments scares them more than the acne. The major problem with acute acne is that it can cause acne scars so bad that people have to seek acne laser treatments to improve their skin. Still others go to the grocery store and find over the counter acne products. As anyone who has ever suffered from acne will tell you, acne can rob you of your dignity and your feelings of self-worth. Our outward appearance, especially during the teen years, is so important. I know, "Pretty is as pretty does." Well, pretty never seems to have acne.
People can be so cruel to acne sufferers. They can call you tomato face, pimple face, scar man or hundreds of ugly taunts. Because teens need to look good to feel good about themselves, the market for acne treatments is enormous. Commercials on television are always advertising the latest in acne medications especially during teen shows. The kids on the show always have smooth, blemish free faces and look exactly like every teen wants to look. Teens want to buy whatever acne medication is new and different in the hope that this new acne treatment will work better than others.
There are even infomercials about acne treatments and acne cover-ups. These infomercials show adults who are looking for make-up to cover-up acne or acne scars. This heavy make-up does seem to cover up scaring or acne on the people doing the infomercial. There are also infomercials about adult acne solutions. Unfortunately, some adults do still get acne. There is a huge market of acne medications or acne treatments for adult acne, not on just the face but also for people who suffer from acne back. Shame makes these people fear others seeing their acne.
One truth remains. There is no cure for acne but there are steps that can be taken to help prevent it. People who think that youth is wasted on the young probably never had acne.
After years as an educator and more degrees than she can count, Frances Coleman now writes professionally. She is a prolific reader with an advanced degree in research techniques. Learn more ways to prevent acne.

Chinese Herbal Treatment Tips
Apr. 10th, 2008 | 08:49 am
NaturalCuresSource.com
By Juliet CohenHerbal Remedies are an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. (TCM). Chinese Medicine has been used as front line medicine by the majority of the worlds population since before recorded history, and is still the most widely utilised medical system in the world today. Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) is an ancient system of health care that has undergone continual development over the centuries as the causes of illness that afflict mankind have evolved. Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system that is capable of treating disease in all its forms. Although your practitioner will treat whatever complaint you have come for.
The traditional view places great importance on preventing disease before it occurs. Chinese medicine is successfully used for a very wide range of conditions. Chinese herbal medicine is not based on conventional Western concepts of medical diagnosis and treatment. Chinese herbal medicine uses a variety of herbs, in different combinations, to restore balance to the body (see Astragalus, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Green Tea, and Siberian Ginseng). Herbal preparations are said to prevent and treat hormone disturbances, infections, breathing disorders, and a vast number of other ailments and diseases.
Some practitioners claim herbs have the power to prevent and treat a variety of cancers. In China, there are over 3,200 herbs, 300 mineral and animal extracts, and over 400 formulas used. Herbal formulations may accord of 4 to 12 different ingredients, to be taken in the form of teas, powders, pills, tinctures, or syrups. Chinese herbal remedies are made up of one or two herbs that are said to have the greatest effect on major aspects of the problem being treated. The other herbs in the formula treat minor aspects of the problem, direct the formula to specific parts of the body, and help the other herbs work more efficiently.
Nourishing and harmonising herbal remedies serve as excellent tonics, strengthening those weakened by stress, overwork, serious illness, childbirth, menopause or poor diet and irregular eating. They also advance the smooth flow of energy, fluids and blood and thus reduce pain and congestion. Herbs with a cooling action can counteract fevers, night sweating, hot flushes and other signs of overheating. Many Chinese herbs are sold individually and in formulas. In the United States, Chinese herbs and herbal formulas may be purchased in health food stores, some pharmacies, and from herbal medicine practitioners.

Foods To Help In The Anti Aging Process
Apr. 9th, 2008 | 08:08 am
For thousands of years, individuals have been in search for the elusive fountain of youth. One such famous search was conducted by Ponce de Leon in the early 1500's. The mythical legend spoke of miraculous waters and those that drank from this fountain would never age but would maintain the beauty of youth. The water was never found and so the fountain of youth remained only a legend.
Despite the fact that this miraculous water was never located, the quest for a miraculous anti aging elixir that would maintain our youthfulness has not been quenched. Today, many products and procedures claim to reverse or slow down the aging process. These products and procedures include natural remedies, creams, injections and plastic surgery.
However, the most natural of all substances may be found in the foods that we eat. These foods may be the natural solution to help in the anti aging process. These foods can be broken down into two basic categories. Those categories include fruits and vegetables.
Fruits
Certain fruits have shown promising results in the anti aging process. Those fruits include apples, strawberries, grapes and raspberries. Researchers have discovered that these particular fruit products contain ellagic acid. Ellagic acid is a nature's natural insect repellent found in various plants
Through the benefits of a daily diet of these fruits, this specific acid has demonstrated the capacity to hinder the growth of tumors within the body. This hindrance of tumor growth is accomplished by the ability of the acid to minimize the enzymes, within the body, that are utilized by mutated cancer cells.
Other fruits that contain valuable anti aging ingredients are cantaloupe, peaches and apricots. These fruits contain antioxidant properties known as lycopene. These antioxidants guard the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals. Additionally these fruits have demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting certain organs of the body. These organs include the heart, bladder and skin.
Additionally, a fruit that can aid in the anti aging process of the skin is the apple. Initial testing has indicated that apples stimulate the production of collagen. The production of collagen is necessary for the skin to maintain its elasticity which can minimize the wrinkling of the skin.
Vegetables
Some vegetables have also demonstrated their ability to fight the anti aging process. Vegetables such as carrots, spinach and sweet potatoes have also demonstrated antioxidant capabilities.
One other group of vegetables, when eaten, that has demonstrated their effectiveness in blocking the production of particular enzymes. These anti aging vegetables include soybeans and alfalfa sprouts. The substance found in these vegetables is known as genistein. Genistein inhibits the production of enzymes that have been identified as stimulants that activate the cancer genes.

Letters to a Yogi
Apr. 8th, 2008 | 09:02 am
The longer we practice Yoga - the more we will see the meaning in the concept of uniting the mind, body, and spirit. No matter what our religion is, or if we practice Yoga, many of us ask the same questions regarding our spiritual, physical, and mental existence. Ever since humans learned to communicate with one another, there have been three common questions people ask.
(1) Where are we from? We know that each of us is an energy field, and the same atoms and molecules, which make us up, are also part of the stars, planets, moons, etc., which make up the universe. Even after we die, the energy within us will transcend into something else, because energy fields exist in all objects, gases, and fluids.
The miracle of life needs more than a scientific explanation, but the case could be made that an energy field is also a soul or our spiritual existence. Science is a wonderful thing, but science cannot fully explain the spiritual world.
(2) Why are we here? We are here to do no harm. This is a very difficult task, but we should do our best to leave this earth in good condition. We should not harm another being mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. This requires us to behave according to the Niyamas and Yamas.
This is why we should leave good memories in the minds of anyone who we meet. Every moral code in existence will agree with the Niyamas and Yamas. Good behavior is a universal concept.
(3) Where will we go after death? Nobody has the answer to this question. I had a near death experience, when I was 17. As luck would have it, my life was saved, which left me with a very deep sense, and vision, that I was going to a good place.
That experience was more than 34 years ago, at the time of this writing, but it left a deep impression in my mind. It was not my time to leave this earth, but if we treat this world, and the beings on it, with respect, we will go to a good place.
We cannot instantly change old habits, which we have practiced for years and decades. Yet, if we become mindful of our effect on others, and this world, we can take corrective action for the common good. If all of us practiced mindfulness, we would leave a peaceful planet behind, and continue our journey to complete bliss.

Prostate Health Facts

What is an Enlarging Prostate?
As one of the primary organs in the male reproductive system, the prostate produces fluids in semen that help to sustain and protect sperm against natural vaginal acids. The prostate doubles by the time a man reaches 25 and continues to grow again when many men are in their 50’s and through the remainder of their life.
As the prostate grows it can put excess pressure on the urethra (the small tube that carries urine and semen). As this pressure increases the urethra can become pinched which can lead to painful and embarrassing symptoms such as urinary hesitancy, painful urination, and erectile dysfunction. If left untreated these conditions may eventually require surgery. This enlarging of the prostate is clinically known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH.

This phase of growth is what doctors call benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).......READ MORE
